We had a great day on Father's Day. Hubby really enjoyed his day and the boys were good. It was a good day all around -- brunch at Hibachi Grill, gifts, fun with the kids, and an impromptu evening cookout for dinner. Very nice! I just wanted to share one of the pictures I snapped. It's a good shot of Khalid with two of our boys (our 3rd just turned 25 yesterday and is a father himself!). Enjoy!

Challenge #6: Drop Shadow Stamping
Thank you ladies for bearing with me through the few hours delay in my post. My foot does not hurt as badly, is not swollen as much, but I still can't put my weight on it. GASC is gonna be fun this weekend with an injured tootsie...Not! Anywho, on to the challenge...
For Challenge #7 you must do 3 things:
This cute card has two stamping techniques -- drop shadow stamping and I've also inked the edges of the parchment paper. The technique I want to highlight this week is the Drop Shadow Stamping:
Closeup of the Drop Shadow Stamping Technique
This technique is quick, easy and fun! Adds depth and dimension to your stamped images. It works best if you use a "chunky" stamp -- outline stamps would not give the same effect.
Challenge #6
Your challenge this week is to create a card using the Drop Shadow Stamping technique and at least one other stamping technique of your choice. Your card must have ribbon, 3 flowers, "gems" (of any type -- I used Pebbles in the flower centers) and at least 2 distinctly different papers/cardstocks. The theme for the card is "Sympathy" (i.e., my "thinking of you" stamp).
Use the InLinkz tool below to post your submission to this challenge and link it back to the post on your blog. Submissions are due by Noon EST on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Let's get some good fun-loving competition going here ladies!
Blog Candy
As mentioned in a previous post, the blog candy for this challenge is a $50 Stampin' Up! Shopping Spree courtesy of the Scrap Shack!!
A NOTE ABOUT NEXT WEEK'S CHALLENGE
If I post a challenge for you all next week (Wednesday, June 29th), that will have you working on it during the 4th of July weekend and holiday (here in the States). Therefore, I am posting Challenge #7 early! And you thought I was gonna give you a break, right?! LOL!!
- Have a SAFE and wonderful holiday!
- Take (or find online) LOTS of pictures of the fireworks, cookouts, etc. that you attend.
- Turn your 4th of July photos into an Explosion Box:
- The Explosion Box must be red, white, and blue.
- There must be an "explosion" inside the box of some sort in addition to the box itself exploding.
- There must be plenty of red, white and blue flowers and ribbon throughout.
- You must use the pictures you took (or found online) of this year's 4th of July festivities.
I know we have crafters who are not in the U.S. and who do not celebrate this holiday; therefore, you can go online to find appropriate pictures. We don't want to exclude anyone! Blog candy will be offered as always.
I will also post this challenge next Wednesday morning at it's usual post time as a reminder. I'm giving you all two weeks on this one due to the holiday. I know I will see some amazing Explosion Boxes!!
Much Love,
Dymonz...

Challenge #6 Post Delay
Challenge #6 will not be posted until tomorrow evening, June 22nd, rather than by 6 a.m. I injured my foot and must sit with it elevated above my heart. Not very conducive for creating this evening...
The challenge will be posted by or before 11 p.m. EST tomorrow. Because it won't be posted at 6 a.m., you will be given until noon on next Wednesday to post your project. This gives you a full 13 additional hours to create, as submissions are normally due on Tuesdays by 11 p.m.
Sorry for the delay, but in my attempt to create tomorrow's challenge project, I hit my foot again. That said it was time to stop pushing it. Remember, it's only a few hours delay in the post, so don't forget to check for it tomorrow! Thanks.
Much Love,
Dymonz...

Copic Markers
SU! Happy Father's Day Stamp
SU! Brillant Blue Classic Stampin' Pad (100691)
For my second project, I used the same digital image courtesy of Tellen's Place Designs. This time, I added a bit of ribbon and placed the image on the inside of the card. I used the SU! 2.5 inch large circle punch to punch a whole through the front of the card to create a window. The sentiment was stamped and embossed using Gold Zing Embossing Powder.

Challenge #4: Mixed Media Arts - Serendipity Technique
At our M.O.M. session last Friday, I taught the Serendipity Technique. M.O.M. is our "Monday Online Meetup" -- a virtual crop with a workshop that we hold every other Friday night from 8 - 10p Eastern time. Here is a picture of the finished project that I made using this technique:
The Serendipity Technique is showcased in the little 1.5x1.5 squares that you see behind the digital image. This technique allows you to create amazing backgrounds and other embellishments on a page. This is also your challenge for this week...

Challenge #4
This week we will be using the Serendipity Technique to further enhance the background we were challenged to create in Challenge #3.
- Utilizing this technique, select corresponding papers and colors to use for the Serendipity Technique.
- Embellish Challenge #3's Credit Card Painting background with your Serendipity Technique to take your background to the next level. Hint: You will use this newly embellished background in next week's challenge, so please do not do anything more with the background then what you are asked to do in this post.
- Submit your completed project to this post using the InLinkz tool below. You must submit your project by Noon EST on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in order to be eligible for blog candy.
Blog Candy
Blog candy for this challenge will be two 6x6 paper stacks that can be used for this new technique.

Challenge #3: Mixed Media Art
Mixed media art is becoming more and more popular these days as an art genre. If you think about it, most any papercrafter is also a mixed media artist -- we use paper and then add paints, specialty glues, beads, metal findings, bling, and other embellishments to a page or card or altered item. We have mixed different media into one project... I have seen some beautiful mixed media art pieces! And they all have been unique in technique and design. My first mixed media project was done just recently at the Village in the Off The Page Group. We all altered CDs with whatever our hearts desired -- the work can be seen here: http://scrapshack.ning.com/group/offthepage/forum/topics/may-15-may-28th-altered
One of the techniques that can be used in creating your mixed media projects is called Credit Card Painting. This technique is often used to create the beautiful backgrounds used as the base for the mixed media project. Below you will see what I have done in creating a background for one of the pages for my art journal:

This technique is often used to create the beautiful backgrounds used as the base for the mixed media project. Below you will see what I have done in creating a background for one of the pages for my art journal:
Unfortunately, the picture does not do the background justice. There are flowers from the SU! Flower Fancy Stamp Set (111578) stamped all over the paint. There are 4 different colored paints -- 1 being metallic. I then also took some Platinum Pearl Liquid Pearls and dotted the centers of the stamped flowers for dimension and pop. From here, I will add bling and ephemera and mats for journalling and pictures, metal findings, beads, and whatever comes to mind. I can't wait to get started on this page because the background came out beautifully!
This Week's Challenge
For our challenge this week, we will be making a decorative background paper. Hint: You will need this background for next week's challenge, so make sure you don't do anything further to the page then what you are directed to do in this post.
- Select an 8.5 x 11 sheet of decorative or plain paper which you want to turn into your background paper.
- Select 3 different colored paints and 1 metallic or glitter paint.
- Use the paper you chose and the 4 ink colors to create a background page using the Credit Card Painting Technique for you to use as your base for next week's challenge.
- Submit your challenge by noon Eastern time on Tuesday, June 7th using the InLinkz tool below.
Blog Candy!
Blog candy this week will be 4 different colored Acrylic Paint Dabbers from Tim Holtz! We want to make sure you have enough paint to continue using this technique in future projects!
