Challenge #3 Problems

Ladies, I do apologize for not having Challenge #3 posted. However, between issues with Blogger itself not letting me sign in for days and then I had a minor computer glitch, I've not been able to get the challenge posted. Blogger has finally fixed my problems and I can again gain access to my own blog to edit/post, so I will be able to post Challenge #3 soon.

However, posting it tonight would only give you all 2 days to get the project done by Thursday. Well, that's not fair to anyone and no one likes to be rushed to get their project done. To that end, I am simply changing up the day of the week new challenges will be posted. This will fix this week's delayed post due to the Blogger problems, and it also will spread out my schedule so that I may better accommodate all of the activities I try to keep going for everyone to participate in.

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, June 1, 2011, all challenges for this blog will be posted on Wednesday mornings. The challenge project will be due by the following Tuesday at noon. Winner(s) will be announced on Tuesday evenings. That gives everyone from Wednesday through Friday to design their project, the weekend to get it put together, and then Monday to post (with a 12 hour "fail safe" window on Tuesday to meet the deadline).

I hope this change doesn't put a kink in your workflow, but it will be best for all involved. Look for new post for Challenge #3 tomorrow morning at 6 a.m.!!!

Much love,
Dymonz...

Challenge #1 Winner

How is everyone on this great Friday?! We have a winner for our Challenge #1: Scrapbook Layout, Tim Holtz style...

CONGRATS JOANN! The DT loved all of the projects, as did I -- they all were great! However, the unanimous vote was for JoAnn's layout. She really nailed the spirit of Tim Holtz on her layout.

Thank you all for joining in the challenge! There's many many more challenges to come and much blog candy to give, so stay tuned!

Look for Challenge #2 to be posted shortly...

2011 Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way: Vagabond Delivered!

Our winner of the Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way is Ms Dee and we are honored to share the same State. As such, I thought it would be a great idea if we could meet in person so that I could give her the grand prize -- the TH Vagabond Machine.

Ms Dee holding the prize winning project.
Stampin' Dymonz holding the grand prize.

Ms Dee with the prize winning project.

Ms Dee with her new toy -- TH Vagabond Machine.

We all saw how nice Ms Dee's project was from the pictures throughout the challenge. Can I just say that the pictures do not do the project justice?! I was able to hold the project in my hand and look at it and feel the texture and see the beautiful embellishments. Pictures just don't do a service to this magnificent project!!

And isn't Ms Dee sweet? She made me a beautiful tag which I will add to my TTT Brag Book, and gave me a RAK (pictured below) of beautiful papers to distribute to the Designer Dymonz (SDSS's Design Team) and challenge them to create something beautiful with it. Look for projects featuring these papers in the Design Team's upcoming blog hop and/or challenge project.

Thank you Ms Dee for the random act of kindness! It was a pleasure meeting you and I hope to continue craftin' with you for many years to come. Congratulations once again on being the winner of our Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge!

Much Love,
Dymonz...

Challenge #1: Scrapbook Layout, Tim Holtz Style...

Blogger was down all day yesterday and most of the day today. The challenge is late posting due to this outage for Blogger. I apologize for the delay!

Are you ready for our first challenge?! In keeping with the spirit of our Grand Give-A-Way Challenge, and also incorporating National Scrapbook Day, our challenge this week is a 12 x 12 scrapbook layout -- Tim Holtz style. Here's an example from Tim's blog:

Obviously, this is a layout made by Tim Holtz. Want to make sure to give the man his credit! It can be found on his blog. It's being used as an example of the project we'll work on this week.

Challenge Details
1. Create a 12 x 12 scrapbook layout -- single page.
2. Your background must be made by you -- not decorative paper. Use stamps/inks/chalks/markers to embellish plain cardstock to be used as your 12 x 12 background/base.
2. It must include one 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 picture. Only one picture.
3. It must include a tag, which has been created as the title for the page. The tag must be inked and distressed.
4. You must incorporate at least four TH-style embellishments - glass blocks, memory frames, sprockets, etc. (These do not have to be TH brand name embellishments.)
5. You must include some fiber on the page.
6. Your theme must be "Travel."

You must link your challenge to this post no later than Noon ET on Thursday, May 19, 2011, in order to be eligible for the blog candy. Links will not be accepted after 12 p.m. All participants are welcome -- no matter where you reside! Winner will be announced by 5 a.m. on Friday, May 20th.

Blog Candy
TH cutting die
Two TH Distressed Ink Pads
Additional goodies

Voting is enabled! When you link your project here, people who visit will have the ability to vote for your project. Votes will be taken into FULL consideration when deciding our winner each week. Please make sure you spread the word and get people voting!

Use the InLinkz tool below to post a thumbnail of your project, linking it back to the blog post on your blog. The post on your blog must include a link back to this blog -- www.StampinDymonz.com. You must use the URL that goes directly to your project -- not to your blog's "Home Page."

My take on this challenge appears below. Remember -- art is art. It's your vision of how things should be placed on the page. You simply need to make sure that however you layout your page, that all of the requirements have been met.

Much love,
Dymonz...

What A Surprise!

Oh my word! What a surprise I received in my e-mail Inbox yesterday evening!

I made the post yesterday reminding folks that we are now a challenge blog and that we would be hosting challenges every other week. Well -- I was inundated with e-mails of excitement about the upcoming challenges, but more importantly with requests to do this weekly rather than bi-weekly. Soooooooooooooo, we're going to kick this off as weekly challenges from the start! WooooHoooo!!! You will be able to come here every Friday morning to a new challenge and a new chance at blog candy!!!!

Remember, you asked for it so please be sure to participate! We don't want to host challenges where there's little or no participation -- that's no fun! Besides, your creativity will be challenged and your likely to pick up some new tips, tricks, and techniques along the way. What better way to learn knew things then through challenges?!?!?!?!?!

Sooooooooooooooooo, starting May 13, 2011, we will be issuing a new challenge every week. Blog candy will be offered frequently, so don't miss out!

Much love,
Dymonz...

Challenges Are Coming!

Whew! The Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way was a blast!!! What fun challenges, interaction among like-minded crafters, and just fun and camaraderie all around! It was such a wonderful experience hosting such a great give-a-way challenge and I look forward to what next year's anniversary give-a-way will bring...

Now that we've celebrated our first year anniversary grandly, it's time to create new memories for the new year. That said...

Our TTT Challenge was more than our anniversary celebration and give-a-way. It was also the kick-off of the Stampin' Dymonz Creative Space's new design as a Challenge Blog! Going forward, a new challenge will be posted every other Friday, starting this Friday -- May 13th.

Challenges will be designed to stretch your imagination. Hopefully, we will be able to come up with challenges that will have you reaching into your "brown bag of tricks" and running to Village or elsewhere to find a tutorial!  We want to keep you inspired and reaching crafting heights that you never thought you would reach...

As always, you know Stampin' D likes to give away blog candy. Most challenges will have opportunities for blog candy attached. Don't miss out on your chance to win some sweet candy! Make sure you are a follower and that you receive the blog feeds or e-mails when a new post is made...

We're looking forward to our first challenge coming up this Friday! We hope to make challenges weekly, but in order to do that we need your participation! Spread the word -- let folks know what we're trying to do over here. We are trying to get you creating! Once we have enough regular participants, we'll change over to weekly challenges and make it even more exciting! Let's get this party started y'all!!!

Much love,
Dymonz...

Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge -- We Have A Winner!!!

If you happen to have just stumbled upon this blog, today is our one year anniversary. In celebration of this momentus event, we are giving away a brand new Tim Holtz Vagabond Machine to one lucky winner. Over the last 10 days, twelve participants have been furiously working on tags inspired by Tim Holtz. The tags culminated on the 10th day in creating a brag book out of the 9 tags that were created. From this enormous challenge, emerges just one winner...

Along the way, participants received a daily opportunity for blog candy. There were 10 blog candy winners throughout the challenge. The ladies worked hard and pulled out all the stops to compete in this challenge! We even had a latecomer join the challenge on day 7 or 8. That meant she had to create all of the tags to "catch up" and then continue through to the end.

Challenges were designed to stretch the participants' imagination. They were designed to be "outside of the box." If you know anything about Tim Holtz, you know he lives outside of the box... That is what we were aiming for here -- pure creativity pulled from the recesses of the artist's mind and displayed magnificently through paper, scissors, glue and ink. We achieved that grandly with the caliber of projects that these ladies produced. It was very difficult for the Designer Dymonz to evaluate each project and select their choice for winner.

I must say, each Designer worked on her own. There was no collaboration on scoring or on who should be our grand prize winner. However, it turns out that not only did each Designer score the participants in a very similar fashion, we each came to the same conclusion when we tallied the scores and selected a winner. Our winner today is by unanimous vote of the Stampin' Dymonz Design Team...

So, without further ado, it is my great pleasure to announce the winner of the brand new Tim Holtz Vagabond Machine, in honor of the Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack's One Year Anniversary and Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge:

Ms_Dee

While all the tags and the final projects were marvelous, Ms_Dee consistently brought the spirit of Tim Holtz and his style alive. Her work was polished, elegant, and creative. She really "got down and got dirty" Tim Holtz style. A hearty congratulations goes out to Ms_Dee!!!! You can now create your Tim Holtz tags with the Vagabond Machine which carries his name!

I would like to take a moment and thank all of the ladies who participated in this challenge. We even have a participant who realized after she made the first tag that she was not eligible because of where she resides. However, she continued right along the entire time and completed the projects with us. We had a great group of participants who were very supportive of each other and enjoyed the process together. This is how we like our challenges to run!

Congratulations again Ms_Dee! Please look for an e-mail from me regarding the details of getting your new Vagabond Machine to you. What a wonderful Mother's Day present!

Much love,
Dymonz...

Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge: Day Ten -- The End.

I cannot believe that we have reached the end of such an exciting and fun 10 day challenge! I want to thank everyone who participated in the challenges. Your work is awesome ladies! I also want to thank all of the folks who have been following the contest each day. This has been a blast!

Ten Days. Ten Tim Challenges. One Vagabond Machine. One lucky winner. Who will it be? We will see...

Brag Book

We've spent nine whole days creating beautiful tags inspired by Tim Holtz. We've learned new techniques, shared tidbits of information, laughed and had a wonderful experience together. Why not preserve this event and those memories for posterity? Thus, I've turned my 9 tags into a "Brag Book" of my Tim inspired tags to commemorate the One Year Anniversary of the Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack, to remember this wonderful challenge, and to keep my tags together forever.

This pictures shows you the "twist" in my Brag Book. I used my Cricut Expression to create a tag pocket using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge. I adhered the pockets to the back of the tags so that I can keep the recipe -- how the tag was created -- in the pocket. That way, 10 years down the line I will know exactly what I need to re-create the tag!

Our last challenge, then, is to make a Brag Book of the nine tags that you have created over the last nine days. It can be bound by rings as I have done or by using a Cinch or BIA or other wire binding device. The tags must be in the Brag Book in the order in which they were created over the nine days. There must be a way in which you display/provide the recipe for each tag. You must have at least one cut from a die-cutting device -- Cricut, Cuttlebug, MS Punch, etc. -- whichever one you use doesn't matter. You must create a cover which utilizes a sentiment and an image stamp and the acrylic paint resist technique.

ARE YOU UP FOR THE FINAL CHALLENGE?

Use the InLinkz tool below to post a thumbnail of your project here with a link back to your blog. Remember to put a link inside your project post which links back to this challenge post.

In order to be eligible for today's blog candy, you must post your project by 11 p.m. Eastern time today. Winner will be announced shortly thereafter. If you post your project by 11 p.m. today, May 7th, you will earn 10 extra points toward your final score.

Please Read Carefully:
Your final project must be posted no later than 12:00 noon Eastern time on Sunday, May 8, 2011, in order to qualify for the Grand Prize. Entries received later than 12:00 noon will be disqualified -- no exceptions. If you find yourself having technical difficulties with the linking tool, it is best to e-mail me a picture of your completed project and inform me that you are having problems linking. However, you must go back and then continue your attempts to link your project. We were able to get everyone to successfully link over the last 9 days, so this should not be an issue for anyone. WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MAY 8TH AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 P.M. EASTERN TIME. Good luck!

Thank you all, once again, for your continued support of the Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack! Thank you 12 ladies for your dedication and determination in the challenge!!! I am anxious to see who will be the first annual Grand Give-A-Way winner!

Much love,
Dymonz...

Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge: Day Nine

We are drawing near the end of our Grand Give-A-Way Challenge! Two more challenges ladies...

Tags continue to be awesome!

Our next tag adds some height to things:

Dimensional Tag

Let's lift it off the tag today ladies! The Prima flower adds height to this tag. Center embellishment is layered into 3 layers using SU! Stampin' Dimensionals.

How high can you go? Today's challenge is to create a dimensional tag. At least two elements must lift up off the page. The edges of the tag should be inked. At least one dimensional flower and 3 buttons should be incorporated in the design.

Because we are heading down the home stretch -- you will also earn 5 extra points which will be used toward your score for the grand prize.

Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge: Day Eight

I cannot believe it! Day Eight is here!!! Just three more challenges and we'll have our grand prize winner! You ladies are banging out those projects and I am loving all of the great talent you have. My idea book has been immensely fattened over these last 7 days.

I want to take a moment to thank all of the beautiful women who have decided to take up the reigns and do this challenge. It is an honor to know that so many are willing to play along and fully get into the challenges. Yes, the Vagabond Machine is an amazing Grand Prize; but you all have kept going day after day after day of challenges, charging full steam ahead to the goal. Thank you for your support! I have added everyone's blogs to my Blog List on the right sidebar, with the exception of our recent contestant whom I will add tomorrow. Now you're challenged with keeping your blogs up-to-date so my visitors can hop over to your blog and see what you're doing over there too!

All that said, today brings us to my most favorite tag. Not necessarily because of the techniques I used, but simply because I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! Today's tag is...

Distressed Tag
Tools and Supplies
TH Distress Ink: Dried Marigold, Aged Mahogany, Bundled Sage
Craft Sheet
Mini Mister
SU! Elements of Style Stamp Set
TH Soulful Journey Stamp Set
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
TH Tiny Attacher
MW Ribbon
Heat Tool

For this tag, I ran a strip of the Dried Marigold and Aged Mahogany Distressed Inks across my Craft Sheet in separate lines next to each other. Then, I used the Mini Mister to mist the strips of ink well. Next, I took the blank tag and pressed it into the ink and lifted. I then spot dabbed the tag in the ink that was left to further blend in the colors and heated the tag with a heat tool to dry the wet ink and water as well as set it. This will also flatten the tag back out, as it will curl from the wetness of ink and water. Using the floral stamp from the SU! Elements of Style Stamp Set, I lightly stamp the floral image randomly over the entire tag and then inked the edges in the same color. The background really came out nicely! This technique is on Tim's blog, as this is where I learned how to do it.

Next, I stamped the time piece from the TH Soulful Journey Stamp Set in black ensuring that I stamped off the tag (leaving a partial image and not the complete time piece face). For the sentiment, I used the same Aged Mahogany Distress Ink along with more black ink -- two colors on the stamp, stamped one time for the bi-colored stamp effect. Yes -- "the Journey awakens the Soul"... Add a touch of ribbon and viola! I absolutely love the way this tag came out!!!

Your challenge today is to create a distressed tag. You must use a minimum of 3 colors of ink. You must use at least 1 image stamp and 1 sentiment stamp. You must color your sentiment stamp using two different ink colors and stamp -- this should be one press on the tag and not "stamp one color, clean stamp, stamp second color." A unique piece of ribbon or other embellishment should be used for the hole in the tag.

Because this is my favorite tag -- you will also earn 5 extra points which will be used toward your score for the grand prize.

Much love,
Dymonz...

Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge: Day Seven

It's day seven and we still have all of our contestants! What a wonderfully fun challenge this has been. The creations are magnificent and when I get a hot minute to sit down and spend some time, I will be visiting each of the contestants blogs and nosing my way around to see the other work you all do. I love being inspired by like-minded people and what better inspiration then to go blog hopping?

Today brings Day Seven of the challenge and...

Acetate Tag
Tools and Supplies
Piece of acetate
TH Seasonal Mask - Snowman
SU! Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad (103133)
TH Ink Blending Tool
MS Fun Flock - Black, Orange, White
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
Adirondack Mixatives - Silver
Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber - Pearl
Cuddlebug Embossing Folder - Snowflakes

I put this tag together by first locating a piece of acetate. You know -- that plastic shell that comes over Cricut Cartridges and a host of other things in our lives... I cut it down to fit into the Vagabond Machine and then embossed it using one of my Cuddlebug embossing folders. What a way to recycle!!! I then took a tag cut from cardstock, applied the snowman mask to it, and inked it all over using the Real Red ink. I removed the mask and then flocked the snowman to define him (rather than just leave his plain image on the cardstock). On a few of the snowflakes on the acetate, I put a drop of Mixatives to color. Taking the paint dabber, I dabbed all over the inside of the acetate and gently wiped the excess away with a tissue. This gave the acetate a nice shimmery translucent affect. I adhered the 2 pieces together with Scotch Quick Dry and added a ribbon. This is my first time using acetate in any project and I will be adding it to my repertoire of tools and supplies because it is a very nice medium to work with...

So, guess what today's challenge is? You got it! An acetate tag. The acetate must be dry embossed. It must be inked. Your tag must be two-layered, include an image, and you must use some type of "dimensional" product to embellish your image -- fun flock, flower soft, heat embossing, etc. The weather, unfortunately, is supposed to be cold here today; therefore, your tag should depict a cold scene -- could be winter or fall and does not have to include snowmen/snow, just ensure you make a good representation of colder weather. The acetate should be from some packaging that you may have at your craft spot in order that you recycle the plastic and help prevent us from killing our own planet with non-biodegradable materials such as plastic...

You will also earn 2 extra points which will be used toward your score for the grand prize.

Much love,
Dymonz...

Day FIVE Blog Candy -- NEW WINNER!!!!

Netta reached out to me this morning via e-mail. She was honored to have won the random drawing a second time. Netta said she was having so much fun with this contest and that everyone's work is so good that everyone should have the chance to win. Therefore, I went on random.org this morning and did the random drawing again, and...

NikkiMo! Congratulations!!!! You are the winner of the Day Five blog candy (yesterday's blog candy). Please e-mail me your mailing address so that I can send out your candy!!! Enjoy!!

THANK YOU to Netta for being so nice and letting someone else have the opportunity to be drawn as winner!

The pocket has been embellished by punching 2 of the 4 corners with one of Martha Stewart's corner punches. The sentiment reads "I didn't forget your birthday. I'm just fashionably late!" and is part of a retired SU! stamp set.

Today's challenge is for you to make a gift card holder tag. The gift card pocket must have at least 2 of it's corners punched with a corner punch. You must show in your picture the "card" in the pocket. The tag must contain at least 3 handmade flowers (meaning no Primas or other pre-made flowers -- you must make the flowers yourself with paper/scissors/glue), a sentiment, and the background of the tag must be inked -- not covered with paper. You may use Color Wash or other spray type ink, or pull out your stamp pads and sponges. The inking technique for the tag background is your choice; however, the background must be created using only ink.

Day Five Blog Candy Winner

I want to clarify how the daily blog candy winner is chosen. Daily blog candy winners are chosen strictly by random drawing. I take the number of entries and input that into www.random.org, letting that service pick the winner. The only "judging" for a winner that will take place is the grand prize winner. That being said...

Netta! You have once again been randomly selected to win blog candy!! As this is the second time your name was pulled, I already have your address - no need to resend it. Congratulations!!!

Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge: Day Five

* * * * * HALF WAY MARK! * * * * *

Day Five... We're halfway there!! Are you as excited as I am???? I can't wait to see what today's creations bring...

Did you all like the twist on yesterday's tag? Those ladies knocked it outta the box with their versions! You guys are gonna make it very tough for me and the design team to choose a winner at the end of this all!!! I just love the creativity that this challenge is bringing!!! Keep it coming -- you all are doing a magnificent job!!! Thank you all for your continued participation and excitement. I am having a blast and hope you are too!

So, yesterday we did an accordion tag. A first for many, myself included. Today we are going to use what we learned making yesterday's tag to make today's tag:

Card Tag

Coloring time! I absolutely LOVE my Copics, so much so I am certified. Now, the key to getting the best result from your Copic markers is practice, practice, practice! So, I decided to pull my Copics out and get some practice in. Not too bad...

Tools and Supplies
Copic Markers
TH Tags and Bookplates Die
Core'dinations Cardstock
TH Sanding Block
Ribbon
SU! Thank You Stamp
X-Press It Cardstock
iRock Heat Tool
iRock Crystal
CM Silver Metallic Marker

The inside of the card is blank -- it was created in order to be a personal note card. The purple mat behind the picture is Core'dinations cardstock that I have sanded the edges to distress it. The edges of the actual card tag have been distressed by sanding as well.

Today's challenge is to create a Card Tag. It must be created with one sheet of cardstock, scored and folded. No cutting two individual tags and adhering them... On your card, you must have an image that you colored by hand. You don't have to use Copics if you do not own them; however, some type of craft markers are a requirement for this challenge. Your coloring should be use at least 2 different colors and you should shade your image to the best of your ability. You must mat your image with a mat that has been distressed by sanding.

* * * * * * * * * * *

I apologize for being MIA today, but today was the Scrap Shack's Mother's Day Makeover Crop event. We had a BLAST! One young lady in attendance had never completed an album, and never done a chipboard album at all. Well -- she finished her chipboard album, pictures and all, before she left here today! It was such fun... There will be pictures of the event posted on the Village sometime tomorrow. Please be sure to stop by and check them out -- along with the album that she finished. I got to take pictures of the album before she left! For now, here's a picture of the freshly made over DIVAS!

Tim Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge: Day Four

We are coming up on the half way mark of this challenge! All I can say is WOW! the projects have been amazing and the talent is magnificent! You ladies are ROCKING these challenges!!! It is such great fun watching as the different tags are submitted and just seeing all the creativity...

Today we have --

Accordion
Tools and Supplies
TH Tags and Bookplates Die
K&Company Sparkly Sweet Decorative Paper
Cricut Expression
Gypsy
Mickey Font Cartridge
Ribbon
TH Tiny Attacher

When I first saw an accordion tag I thought it was so cool that I had to try it myself. I absolutely LOVE how this tag came out!

My boys (6 and 8) spent Spring Break down South with their grandparents. It's the first time they were away from home for that long without us (8 days), and the first time they spent any time alone with their grandparents. I made this tag so that I can put some of the pictures from their 2011 Spring Break -- a Brag Tag-Mini! LOL!!!

All sides of the tag -- front and back -- have been decorated. There is space for pictures and journaling. This will make a great little Brag Tag-Mini to show friends and family.

Today, your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create an accordion tag of your own! Your accordion tag must have 4 panels like the picture above. The accordion must be a folded accordion -- in other words, don't cut 4 individual tags and tape them together. You must use one piece of cardstock to create the 4-paneled tag. Therefore, your tag must clearly show that it is one layer. The one pictured here was created using decorative cardstock -- there was no need for me to layer it onto chipboard for strength. Today's theme is Spring Break! Your accordion tag should be embellished to depict Spring/Spring Break fun, sun, and activities. Lastly, your tag should include at least one cut out word which has had its edges inked. You do not have to use the Cricut/Gypsy to cut out your word. You just need to cut it out and ink it.
